They’re back! After a three year hiatus (they last flew here in 2010), the tradition of the Blue Angels doing a show for Commissioning Week has been revived. Today (Tuesday) is practice day and tomorrow is the actual show.
I’ll be posting pictures and videos here of the Blue Angels over the next couple of days. Stay tuned!

President Obama came to Annapolis today to meet with Democratic senators. He came on Marine One and landed at the Naval Academy, right outside my office. One of my coworkers had a DSLR with them and was able to get some good pictures of the President’s arrival.

After he had finished his business, he came back to the Naval Academy, boarded Marine One, and headed back to Washington.
It’s that time of the year again: Blue Angels at the Naval Academy. Every year the team of stunt aviators comes to Annapolis during Commissioning Week. It’s a highlight of the season for Annapolitans, and massive crowds line the banks of the Severn River to watch the show.
You may remember that I streamed the event last year. It went so well I decided to do it again this year too!
This week is Commissioning Week at the Naval Academy here in Annapolis. As a result, the town is flooded with friends & family of the graduates from out of town, and parts of the city are closed off to traffic at certain hours. One of the major reasons for this is a favorite annual tradition: the Blue Angels show on Wednesday afternoon.
Every year, the Blue Angels put on a demonstration during Commissioning Week, over the Severn River right next to the Academy grounds.
